Finding Your Winter Tribe on the Road

Just because the weather cools down doesn’t mean your adventures have to!
For full-time RVers, vanlifers, and skoolie dwellers, winter can be one of the best times to connect, learn new skills, and find your people. The southern deserts and coastal states come alive with community gatherings — think potlucks, build workshops, live music, and campfires under wide-open skies.

This guide covers everything you need to know about winter RV/van/skoolie gatherings from November 2025 through April 2026 — complete with confirmed event dates, locations, and insider travel tips.

Why Winter Meetups & Festivals Rock

  • Community when you need it most: Travel slows, but friendships thrive.

  • Mild weather destinations: Arizona deserts, Gulf Coast beaches, and Florida forests are perfect winter escapes.

  • Off-season camping: Fewer crowds and lower campground rates.

  • Hands-on workshops: Learn everything you need to know about living in the road from RV solar,  finding work, helpful resources and apps, and everything in between.

Before You Go: Things to Plan For

Factor
What to Check
Weather Readiness
Even “warm” winter spots get cold at night. Bring insulation, propane, and condensation control.
Ground Conditions
Expect mud or soft sand — pack leveling blocks and traction mats.*
Access Roads
Double-check route closures or rough terrain on BLM land.
Facilities
Verify water, dump, and bathroom availability. These can be closed in the winter months.
Event Style
Some events are quiet community hangs, others are high-energy festivals - choose the ones that suit you best.
Registration
Many gatherings sell out or require pre-registration.
Backup Plan
Have a safe spot to boondock nearby if weather shifts or events change.
